Have you held dreams of success and happiness that you've failed to fulfill? Do you sometimes feel that, however much you've done, you are still, in part, an underachiever? If so, there is good news. Your past failures have no bearing on your future. And if you can change the way you approach your work, you can change the way you live.

In The Pledge, best-selling author Michael Masterson teaches you how to reinvent your life by putting together a personal master plan. It's a formal contract between the person you are today (fed up with the problems and lack of success you've been having) and the person you have decided to be (the successful you who is healthy, wealthy, happy, and wise). Masterson's unique approach to creating a master plan will change your life immediately and forever. It is based on the best principles of the great personal productivity masters (such as Dale Carnegie and Stephen Covey) and on discoveries he made during his climb from indebtedness to multimillionaire status. The Pledge is not a book on goal setting. It is a blueprint for fundamental change. Once you have experienced even one day of Michael's revolutionary system, you'll be hooked for life.Through his writing and personal coaching, Masterson has changed the lives of countless people. His office walls are covered with personal letters from people from all over the world who credit him with transforming their lives. Now it's your turn. Once you set up your personal master plan, your effort will be minimal. You will start to see results immediately. You will have more money, more success, and more time to do the things you love.

HOW TO DO THE RIGHT THING IN ANY SITUATION

Michael Levine, "Raise Your Social IQ" [Audiobook, Unabridged]
B-ac-s-one Audiobooks | 2000 | ISBN: 0786116889 | MP3@64 kbps | 8 hrs 15 mins | 228.49 Mb

In this modern, stress-filled time, people face many awkward situations: the dating scene with all its pitfalls; friends going through grief and loss; job difficulties and other personal problems; the woes of love, friendship, and profession.

To avoid gaffes and goofs and other embarrassments, we need to bring our social I.Q. into the 21st century. This book defines manners and etiquette for how we live today and shows readers how to keep their mouths foot-free. Among the topics covered:

• How to mix business and social relationships
• Thank-you notes and why they are indispensable
• E-mail versus snail mail (guess which one is better)
• How to behave on a first date
• Racism, politics, and sex
• RSVP or else!
• The Ten Commandments of social I.Q.
• The basics of friendship

The book also includes a social I.Q. test, and the author dares readers to improve their score before the "final exam", given at the end of the book. Raise Your Social I.Q. shows readers how to live better, happier, and nicer, and how to help rid the planet of bad manners and incivility.

Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat Secrets of My Mother's Tokyo Kitchen Audiobook

Naomi Moriyama  William Doyle  Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat  Secrets of My Mother's Tokyo Kitchen Audiobook Ra-d-m Ho-se Audio | 2005 | ISBN: 0739325124 | MP3@96 kbps | 5 hrs 02 mins | 209.88 Mb

It's well known that Japanese women have the lowest obesity rate in the industrialized world (3%) and the highest life expectancy (85 years), and that their cuisine is based on simplicity. Tokyo native Moriyama puts a human face on this phenomenon, that of her mother, Chizuko, in this well-organized, persuasive introduction to a non-Western everyday cooking plan. Just as Moriyama reconstructed Chizuko's cooking practices for herself and her coauthor husband, Doyle (Inside the Oval Office), she shows readers the elements of Chizuko's 6'×12' Tokyo kitchen. She details its pantry ingredients, including bonito (fish) flakes and daikon (radish) and tools such as a rice cooker and wok. Most recipes are based on at least one of the "seven pillars"—fish, vegetables, rice, soy, noodles, tea, fruit—and are familiar and easy to make (Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura, Teriyaki Fish, etc.). Cooking tips abound, but what adds a French Women Don't Get Fat angle is the useful eating advice, such as "Hara hachi bunme," or "Eat until you are 80 percent full." It's a call for moderation that occurs throughout other cultures, and if it's the Japanese version that speaks to readers, good for Moriyama.

Claire Dederer Poser My Life in Twenty Three Yoga Poses Audiobook Unabridged

Claire Dederer, "Poser: My Life in Twenty-Three Yoga Poses" [Audiobook, Unabridged]
Bl-cks-to-e Audio | 2010 | ISBN: 144178151X | MP3@96 kbps | 11 hrs 26 mins | 486.29 Mb

Yoga, even as it furthers its storefront-by-storefront takeover of American leisure hours, remains a punchline, a shorthand summing-up of a certain way of life. One of the charms of Poser, Claire Dederer's memoir of motherhood and marriage structured around her love affair with yoga, is that--as her title hints--she gets the joke, and tells it very well herself. She knows, to the molecule, the subculture she swims within--the "liberal enclave" of late '90s North Seattle, with its self-policed, guilt-laced dictates about the proper ways to parent, work, play, and wed (and divorce)--and she's well aware of every knee-jerk response you might bring to a story about yoga (she had them too). She's sharp and funny, shifting expertly between earthy put-downs and the earnest openness that yoga leads her to. And she's wisest, and most fascinating, when she's plotting the differences between her mother's generation, breaking out from the traditions of young marriage and motherhood in sloppy, self-invented ways, and her own, responding to the chaos of their parents' marriages and their own youth with the anxiously seamless embrace of attachment parenting. Readers will inevitably be reminded of another witty, navel-gazing, West-meets-East memoir, Eat, Pray, Love, but Dederer's more domestic journey is her very much her own.

Managing Audiobook, Unabridged

Henry Mintzberg, "Managing" [Audiobook, Unabridged]
BBC Audiobooks America | 2009 | ISBN: no, ASIN: B0031KN6WU | MP3@96 kbps | 11 hrs 02 mins | 464.78 Mb

This landmark book draws on Henry Mintzberg's observations of 29 managers, in business, government, health care, and the social sector, working in settings ranging from a refugee camp to a symphony orchestra. What he saw - the pressures, the action, the nuances, the blending - compelled him to describe managing as a practice, not a science or a profession, learned primarily through experience and rooted in context.

This book is vintage Mintzberg: iconoclastic, irreverent, carefully researched, myth-breaking. Managing may be the most revealing book yet written about what managers do, how they do it, and how they can do it better.

Winner of the CMI Management Book of the Year.

This title presents the new Edward Trapp adventure. 1943. World War Two. A Russian convoy fights its violent, wreckage-strewn course across the Arctic Circle towards Murmansk. Many gallant vessels will die in that hazardous endeavour, all crewed by incredibly brave men. Except for one - the coffin ship Charon and her appalling complement of misfits, captained by the buccaneering Edward Trapp: professional scoundrel, international pariah, blackguard without merit. To Trapp, war offers not so much the challenge of selfless service, but a prime commercial opportunity. How else might a treasure seeker convinced of his own immortality manipulate the allies into providing a whole task force of warships to escort him north through U-boat alley and waves of screeching Stukas to the very edge of the Arctic ice barrier...and beyond? The superannuated Charon staggers from one sub-zero crisis to the next in the Captain's bloody-minded pursuit of ignominy, golden cargo, somewhat unlikely legends, and to the enduring embarrassment of the Admirals and Staff of the British and United States Navies.

Rule 1 The Simple Strategy for Successful Investing in Only 15 Minutes a Week Audiobook

Phil Town, "Rule #1: The Simple Strategy for Successful Investing in Only 15 Minutes a Week" [Audiobook, Unabridged]
Books on Tape | 2003 | ISBN: no, ASIN: B000FA4VVE | MP3@96 kbps | 11 hrs 32 mins | 490.42 Mb

Before I became "Phil Town, teacher of investing principles to more than 500,000 people a year", I was a lot like you: someone who viewed individual stock investing as way too hard to do successfully. As a guy who barely made a living as a river guide, I considered the whole process pretty impenetrable, and I was convinced that to do it right you had to make it a full-time job. Me, I was more interested in having full-time fun.

In this book I'll show you how I turned $1,000 into $1 million in only five years, and then proceeded to make many millions more. I came to investing as a person who wasn't great at math, possessed zero extra cash, and wanted a life, not an extra three hours of work to do every day.

Fortunately, I was introduced to The Rule. Rule #1, as famed investor Warren Buffett will tell you, is don't lose money. Through an intriguing process that I'll clarify in this book, not losing money results in making more money than you ever imagined. What it comes down to is buying shares of companies only when the numbers, and the intangibles, are on your side. If that sounds too good to be true, it's because the mind-set I'll be introducing you to leads not to bets but to certainties. Believe me, if there were anything genius-level about this, I'd still be a river guide collecting unemployment much of the year.

What I won't waste your time with is fluff: a lot of vague parables reminding you of what you already know and leaving you exactly where you started. This is the real deal, folks: a start-to-finish, one-baby-step-at-a-time approach that will allow you to retire 10 years sooner than you planned, with more creature comforts than you ever imagined.

John Lennon The Life Audiobook

Philip Norman, "John Lennon: The Life" [Audiobook]
H-rp-rAudio | 2008 | ISBN: 0061672564 | MP3@56 kbps | 32 hrs 44 mins | 823.94 Mb

This masterly biography takes a fresh and penetrating look at every aspect of Lennon's much-chronicled life, including the songs that have turned him, posthumously, into a near-secular saint. In three years of research, Norman has turned up an extraordinary amount of new information about even the best-known episodes of Lennon folklore—his upbringing by his strict Aunt Mimi; his allegedly wasted school and student days; the evolution of his peerless creative partnership with Paul McCartney; his Beatle-busting love affair with a Japanese performance artist; his forays into painting and literature; his experiments with Transcendental Meditation, primal scream therapy, and drugs. The book's numerous key informants and interviewees include Sir Paul McCartney, Sir George Martin, Sean Lennon—whose moving reminiscence reveals his father as never before—and Yoko Ono, who speaks with sometimes shocking candor about the inner workings of her marriage to John.

Honest and unflinching, as John himself would wish, Norman gives us the whole man in all his endless contradictions—tough and cynical, hilariously funny but also naive, vulnerable and insecure—and reveals how the mother who gave him away as a toddler haunted his mind and his music for the rest of his days.

Most beloved public figures have many facets - some of them nasty, some of them pleasant and admirable. Most biographies either focus on the good, or the bad.

But fortunately, Philip Norman is making a valiant effort to show, if not all of John Lennon's facets, then as many of them as possible. Having explored the Beatles and their impact on a generation, Norman narrows his focus down to "John Lennon: The Life" - and he does a superb job unearthing the many details, relationships and differing faces of this much-lamented rock star. We'll never get a John Lennon autobiography, but Norman does a pretty good job of getting inside his shaggy head.

Norman's success is creating an account of an irresistible human being who has less in common with an Olympian figure than he does with the people who will be flipping through the book's pages. With that achievement, he has probably created the first genuine biography of the man who history has transformed into a mythic figure lacking authenticity and humanity.

Thomas J Stanley Stop Acting Rich How to Live Like a Real Millionaire Audiobook Unabridged

Thomas J. Stanley, "Stop Acting Rich: How to Live Like a Real Millionaire" [Audiobook, Unabridged]
B-ill-ance Audio | 2011 | ISBN: 1455805726 | MP3@128 kbps | 8 hrs 26 mins | 467.28 Mb

With the current financial crisis, high unemployment, and tight credit, you may be saying to yourself: “Who is acting rich these days? We’re barely making ends meet.” The reality is the recession may have caused us to take a breather, but every indication is that we will pick up right where we left off when gentler economic winds blow again. Before you spend another dime, listen to this audiobook and understand how to become rich instead of act rich. It all starts with where you live. Live in a prestige neighborhood and you will spend more on everything from your car to your watch. Real millionaires understand that living in communities where their neighbors have less net worth than they do naturally leads to spending less. It’s easier to be rich when keeping up with the Joneses hardly costs anything. Life satisfaction comes not from cruising down the highway in a chunk of your net worth, but from having the financial resources to choose—to spend time with family and friends, to volunteer, to pursue interests. Bestselling author of The Millionaire Next Door and The Millionaire Mind and leading authority on the wealthy, Dr. Thomas Stanley uncovers the truth that few people become rich by way of a high income, and even fewer high-income people are truly rich. The good news is that almost anyone can become wealthy—even without a super high income—if you would just stop acting . . . and instead start living like a rich person.

Ten Lessons to Transform Your Marriage Audiobook

John Gottman Ph.D., Julie Schwartz Gottman, Joan DeClaire, "Ten Lessons to Transform Your Marriage: America's Love Lab Experts Share Their Strategies for Strengthening Your Relationship" [Audiobook, Unabridged]
R-n-omH-use Audio | 2006 | ISBN: 0739332376 | MP3@128 kbps | 9 hrs 16 mins | 513.79 Mb

In 1994, Dr. John Gottman and his colleagues at the University of Washingto— made a startling announcement: Through scientific observation and mathematical analysis, they could predict—with more than 90 percent accuracy—whether a marriage would succeed or fail. The only thing they did not yet know was how to turn a failing marriage into a successful one, so Gottman teamed up with his clinical psychologist wife, Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman, to develop intervention methods. Now the Gottmans, together with the Love Lab research facility, have put these ideas into practice. In Ten Lessons to Transform Your Marriage, the Gottmans share this vital information so that couples can develop the skills to turn their relationship problems around and create strong, lasting unions.

What emerged from the Gottmans’ collaboration and decades of research is a body of advice that’s based on two surprisingly simple truths: Happily married couples behave like good friends, and they handle their conflicts in gentle, positive ways. The authors offer an intimate look at ten couples who have learned to work through potentially destructive problems—extramarital affairs, workaholism, parenthood adjustments, serious illnesses, lack of intimacy—and examine what they’ve done to improve communication and get their marriages back on track.

Giving an insider’s view of the Love Lab, the Gottmans take the reader step-by-step through the couples’ conversations, before and after they are counseled. The authors also provide an analysis of the couples’ interactions, identifying their core problems and offering suggestions for resolving them. By “listening” to the discussions in this way, you will learn to detect the most common stumbling blocks of a relationship and—most important—how to avoid them.

Hundreds of thousands have seen their relationships improve thanks to the Gottmans’ work. Whether you want to make a strong relationship more fulfilling or rescue one that’s headed for disaster, Ten Lessons to Transform Your Marriage is essential reading.

From inside the famed Gottman Institute, aka the “Love Lab”: ten scientifically proven, practical ways to strengthen your marriage

“We don’t feel close anymore.”
“You never talk to me.”
“We only have time for the kids.”
“All you do is work.”
“You don’t care about my dreams.”

Do you recognize yourself, or your spouse, in any of these statements? If so, Dr. John Gottman and his wife, Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman, say you shouldn’t be surprised. In fact, their decades of scientific research have shown that most couples face these and other serious problems—but what the Gottmans have proven is that such difficulties don’t have to lead to a broken relationship, or even divorce.

In Ten Lessons to Transform Your Marriage, the Gottmans provide vital tools—scientifically based and empirically verified—that you can use to regain affection and romance lost through years of ineffective communication. You’ll strengthen your relationship and make it the most fulfilling it can be.

Details Death by Meeting A Leadership Fable audiobook

Patrick Lencioni, "Death by Meeting: A Leadership Fable" [Audiobook, Unabridged]
M-c-i-lan Audio | 2004 | ISBN: 1593974418 | MP3@96 kbps | 4 hrs 32 mins | 186.9 Mb

The business meeting—a necessary evil or a vital and invigorating component of running an organization? According to management consultant Lencioni (The Five Temptations of a CEO), meetings should fit the latter description, but more often than not, he says, they don't. In this lackluster audio fable, Lencioni offers practical advice on how to revitalize your business by energizing your business meetings, but his pallid, passive prose would challenge the most skilled narrator, and Arthur is no exception. The voice Arthur lends Will, the young hero of this tale, resembles that of Sesame Street's Ernie on downers, and the various inflections he gives business owner Casey McDaniel and his management team don't make up for the characters' lack of character. Nevertheless, Lencioni's message comes across loud and clear—meetings should be interactive, not passive, and they should be structured (i.e., issues of immediate importance should be discussed in "weekly tactical" meetings, and issues that will fundamentally affect the business should be addressed in "monthly strategic" meetings). Although managers will find this advice worthwhile, they would gather just as much if they skipped the sluggish fable and listened to the last few tracks.
